This week on User Friendly,

we're going to talk about right to repair

For anybody that doesn't know right

to repair as a topic,

that refers to the idea

that if you buy something, you should

have the right to be able to work on it

yourself and repair it yourself.

A lot of manufacturers

don't like this idea,

and they create situations

where you need special tools, or access

to special software

or other things to be able to get in

and diagnose and figure out what's wrong

with your product.

In some cases,

it goes on where they will say,

if you get in here and mess with anything,

it actually will.

One of the biggest areas

that this has been a problem with

is on the farm, where things like tractors

have to work in a very timely fashion,

and modern equipment,

just like our cars, is very,

very advanced

and has a lot of these different things.
